June has arrived in a blustery rain storm, and as the skys clear we now have the perfect weather for enjoying the garden, and of corse the lawns. With the mix of rain and sun, many of you will be seeing the weeds flourishing in the flower beds, and of course on the lawns too. Dont worry though as help is at hand. Step 3 of our 5 step perfect lawn plan, includes our weed treatment. With in a matter of weeks your lawn could be weed free and ready for the grass to fill the gaps during the summer months. Better to fill the gaps with the grass now that it is growing healthy and strong, than to let new weed seeds and moss blow in.
So apart from regular mowing and keeping the edges nice and sharp, there isn’t much more the lawn needs until the late summer in 2 months time. Until then, lets hope that the sun keeps its hat on and comes out to play.
Remember to keep the mower set higher if the ground dries out, and if you can, make sure you water the lawns. Even if its just once a week, so as to stop the browning off effect. The lawns go brown quite simply as a way to protect them selves. The roots are the life blood of any plant, and plants will shed their leaves in order to save energy and water in times of drought. This however has 2 effects, firstly the lawn looks terrible and often cam take many weeks before it has recovered once watered, and secondly the grass plants will have endured high stress and will be weekend as a result. All this means that the lawn is in danger of being attacked by weeds and moss finding their way in whilst the grass is week and defenceless.
Enjoy the summer and happy mowing 🙂
