How to treat the moss in the spring
Winter is slowly turning into spring, and the lawn care calendar is poised to start.
Its almost time to treat the lawns for moss. but for now, as the days get longer and warmer, the grass will be growing. If you feel the need to get out and cut the grass make sure you don’t cut it too short for now. Unless you are going to treat the moss, in which case, its worth while giving the lawn a closer cut, so as to expose the moss, in time for the moss killer to be applied.
For information on moss and how to treat it, or advice on how to reduce the amount of moss in your lawn, please don’t hesitate to ask. we are always available for advice. Feel free to send us an email and we will try our best to advise you on any issue you may have with your lawn care requirements.
Once the moss has been treated, the next step is to leave the lawn for a few weeks to allow the moss treatment to get right to the roots. Then the lawn is ready for the scarification process. This comes in form of a machine that has many blades that swing round and rip out the moss and thatch. The blades just touch soil, so as to open up the top layer. This will in turn help with drainage and air flow. At the same time, allow some where for the over seeding to germinate. Not to mention it will help the fertiliser to get down to the root base, where it is needed.
So, soon we will see old mr sun and the daffodils will follow. The snow drops are out already, the first sign of spring. hoorah. Let us help you get the lawn ready for another beautiful British summer.
