SPRING!!!!!!!

It certainly feels like spring is on its way. We are out spraying moss and getting the first cut to the lawns done. Looking forward to 2017, with some new team members that are excited to have joined the TLC crew. With more hands on deck, we will be able to deliver our service more smoothly going forward through the year. Our grass cutting team still has some spaces for large lawns, from half an acre upwards, so get in touch if you need help with that.

We are excited about this warm weather that we are experiencing, as the grass starts to kick back into growing season, there will be plenty for us to do. We look forward to seeing as many of our customers as we can on our travels. See you soon 🙂

Watering the lawns

The weather has finally turned hot… People often water their plants, flower beds and pots. But often forget about the lawns….

Watering heavily just once a week can be enough to stop the lawns browning off. A handy tip, is to water the lawn until there is surface water. (at least 1cm, but more if you can afford it) This way, once you have turned the hose off, the water can continue seeping down towards the roots. Water in the evening (this can encourage slugs and snails out) but is better for the lawns, as it will allow the water to get down deeper before the sun dries things out.

Remember, grass is a living thing, and needs water too.

How to treat the moss in the spring

Winter is slowly turning into spring, and the lawn care calendar is poised to start.

Its almost time to treat the lawns for moss. but for now, as the days get longer and warmer, the grass will be growing. If you feel the need to get out and cut the grass make sure you don’t cut it too short for now. Unless you are going to treat the moss, in which case, its worth while giving the lawn a closer cut, so as to expose the moss, in time for the moss killer to be applied. Continue reading→

Winter, a time to rest and start thinking of spring

2015 is on our door steps, as is jack frost. The lawns are more or less not growing now (at least above ground). Remember that the grass is always growing, even in winter. January (Winter months) Its time to tackle moss in your lawn.

If the conditions in your lawn aren’t perfect, and they rarely are you may have a moss problem. In other words the natural balance in your lawn is towards moss and away from grass. Without any intervention the problem may get worse and, in some cases so bad that you have all moss and no grass!

If you want a decent lawn then you need to help the grass and NOT help the moss – it’s LAWN CARE vs LAWN MOSS!
