Grass cutting season is now coming to a close and, by now, many of the leaves have fallen from the tress covering our lawns and driveways. Although the gardens will start looking a bit wet and wintry it is important not to stop the regular maintenance of your garden and lawn. Most importantly, removing the leaves and any sticks or branches from your lawn as soon as you can once they have fallen will really help your lawn. Leaves on your lawn over the winter months can create a place for mould and bacteria to grow which can be harmful to the grass plants, it will also promote moss growth as the lawn will stay dark and damp. Clearing the leaves soon after they have fallen is also a much easier task than later on in the winter as they will be drier, therefore light and easier to collect.
